Breast Navigation

What is a Breast Navigator (BN)?

A breast navigator is your point-of-contact for any questions or concerns related to breast health.

What does a Breast Navigator do?

The Breast Navigator assists patients in scheduling screening/diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasounds and MRIs, if needed. She is able to place additional imaging orders per your radiologist’s or primary care provider's recommendations. Calls are made to the patient instructing him or her that additional imaging procedures need to be performed to clarify interpretation, and also gives results of those imaging tests.

If a patient needs an MRI or a stereotactic biopsy, the Breast Navigator will work closely with TCHC surgical providers, and their nurses, to schedule consults, biopsies and follow-up appointments. If the patient desires, the Breast Navigator will go with the patient to the breast biopsy, offer support, and assist as needed. The Breast Navigator will follow-up with patients that are due for follow-up imaging (3-6 month, etc.) or office visits, and will provide on-going support for the diagnostic breast patient.

With a designated person readily available throughout the treatment process to answer questions or concerns, TCHC hopes to improve the experience of any of our breast health patients.

Education/Classes

Prenatal Education

Tri-County believes prenatal and breastfeeding education is the most effective way for new parents to prepare for your childbirth experience, and to gain information on how best to care for yourself and your baby after he or she arrives. Prenatal education is offered to all obstetric (OB) patients that visit any of our six clinics. One-on-one education is offered to new moms during clinic visits with an experienced OB Nurse. We are here to assist you through every step of your OB journey and to help you meet your educational needs.

Birthing Experience

Customized one-on-one sessions go over the following: when to go to the hospital, breathing and relaxation techniques used during labor and delivery, infant feeding, tour of the TCHC birthing suites, preparation for the birth experience, newborn care, breastfeeding, home safety, infant CPR, car seat safety, other child-related safety concerns and care for mom after delivery and more. This helps prepare expectant parents for all aspects of their birth and help to create a positive birth experience.
