Advanced Directives

Preparing for the unexpected is never easy, but Tri-County Health Care can help you every step of the way.

What is an Advanced Directive?

Adult patients being admitted to Tri-County Hospital are asked if they have an advance directive. An advance directive allows every individual the right to make his or her own health care decisions known in the case they become incapacitated, unable to make those decisions themselves or unable to communicate their choices to others.

Tri-County Health Care offers all patients free information regarding preparing an advance directive. If you wish to create an advance directive contact TCHC Medical Social Services. The consultation is free and available by appointment or by calling 218-631-5228.

Organ & Tissue Donation

Facing the news of a loved one's untimely death can be devastating, just as the decision to donate organs/tissues is always a delicate one. Many who have experienced tragedy have found comfort in helping to save the lives of others through organ/tissue donation. Minnesota state law requires Tri-County Health Care to request consent for organ/tissue donation.

Organ procurement is coordinated through LifeSource, Inc. of Minneapolis. Tissue procurement is coordinated through the Lions Eye Bank and the American Red Cross.

Please consider organ/tissue donation if your family is faced with a life-losing/life-giving event.
