What inspired you to get into medicine?
That credit would go to my mother. She was a public health school nurse. I remember going on home health visits with her when I was young. I enjoyed watching her help and educate patients. I never really considered any other careers growing up, outside of health care, because I always knew it was going to be the right fit for me.
What do you like to do in your downtime?
When I’m not at work, I love being with my family. I’m married to my high school sweetheart, Ben, and we have two children and two dogs. I love being a mom most of all! We enjoy traveling, biking and spending time on our pontoon on Gull Lake. When I have time all to myself, I enjoy reading.
What is one interesting, unique or fun thing that most people may not know about you?
I grew up on a large farm in Pope County. My dad and older brothers are third and fourth generation farmers. I still enjoy spending time on the farm when we go home to visit, especially now with my kids. Growing up on a farm has given me a strong work ethic and a great appreciation for my dad and brothers.
