Background:
I was born in Phoenix, Arizona, and lived there for one year before moving to a farm in Northfield, where I was raised. We farmed cattle, hogs and crops, and I have had horses since the age of 5.

I worked as a PCA for eight years with a boy with cerebral palsy and epilepsy. I then worked as a CNA at a long-term care/acute rehab facility. Once I obtained my RN license, I continued working in the long-term care/acute care facility on call while working orthopedics at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. Upon starting my graduate degree, worked for Mayo Clinic Health System as a triage RN.

I have a boyfriend of 8.5 years, yellow Labrador (Lux) and a Gypsy Vanner horse (Manny). We have five wonderful nephews between the ages of 4-10 whom we adore and love to spoil.

What inspired you to get into medicine?
Ten years ago, my niece was stillborn at 36 weeks gestation. After seeing the compassion and devotion of the nurses, providers and all staff, it was my desire to have the same impact on others as they had on me.

Why did you select Tri-County Health Care?
Rural health is my passion. It is my aspiration to work in an environment where patient-provider relationship is a key element in patient care. I want to work in a setting where I know the families as a whole, their father, mother and their children. I want to be involved in their care and watch them grow and become successful and eventually take care of their babies. I desire the feeling of taking care of others while still watching them grow and prosper; that thought alone is fulfilling.

What do you like to do in your downtime?
Time with family and friends; my family and friends are everything to me, so I will spend as much time as I can with them. I also enjoy reading, oil painting, going to the fitness center, volleyball and anything to do with the outdoors, like hunting, fishing, horseback riding, four-wheeling, dirt biking, hiking, splitting wood, landscaping, gardening and farming.

What is an interesting, unique or fun thing that most people may not know about you?
I met my significant other at a hunting/training facility while training obedience dogs. I love people and worry about everyone. I love 90s country music. I love cleaning, alone. I don’t care for television. If the time is 11:11, I always try to make a wish.
